Rehoboth Beach , located on the Delaware shore, is a lively resort town, but still considerably more quiet and peaceful than many other East Coast beach areas. The population, however, nearly doubles in the summer as visitors from Baltimore and Washington, D.C. descend upon its area. There has been substantial relocation to the Rehoboth Beach region due to the strong property values and the tax structure is incomparable. Rehoboth Beach doesn’t disappoint those who seek simple beach relaxation, great boating, fishing, crabbing, fine restaurants and terrific shopping. The town of Rehoboth is located in Sussex County, which saw a building boom in 2003. The town manager said that 108 building permits were issued in 2002, followed by 165 in 2003, and the trend looks like it will continue into 2004. Housing starts include single-family homes, town houses and condominiums. Several exciting things are going on in the Sussex County area. A new glamorous development will be placed near Millsboro and Fenwick Island, where golf legend Jack Nicklaus is designing two signature golf courses. A luxury, gated community called The Peninsula will be built at the end of Bay Farm Road, off Delaware 24, east of Millsboro. The 800-acre site will include 1,404 housing units, including custom-built homes, condominiums, town houses and single-family homes. Bayside, a master-planned community off Delaware 54, just west of Fenwick Island, will consist of a mix of home types and a variety of recreational amenities, as well as retail and office space in a town center. Home sales are expected to begin in spring 2004. The four-lane expansion of Millsboro’s main highway, U.S. 113, has just been completed, and a number of housing units are under way or in the planning stages in that town, as well. Two national drugstore chains also are moving to the intersection of U.S. 113 and Delaware 24.

Downtown Rehoboth Beach has recently completed a revitalization. A roundabout was installed at the city’s entrance and a replica of the Cape Henlopen Lighthouse was constructed in the center of the circle. New lights and parking meters are also set to be installed. Located just a two-hour drive from Washington D.C., Philadelphia and Baltimore, Rehoboth Beach makes a great place to own a second home. The city has high quality residential areas, as well as beach cottages, great shopping and fine restaurants and an abundance of recreational opportunities. The local economy, the tax structure of the state of Delaware and home values are strong in Rehoboth Beach due to its natural beauty and location along the shore.

Vacation rentals are part of the mix in Rehoboth Beach real estate, as well. You will find an abundance of properties, both oceanfront and oceanside, apartments and condominiums, cottages and private homes. You may also want to consider the beach communities of Ocean City, Ocean Pines, Fenwick Island, Bethany Beach, Dewey Beach and Lewes in your search for real estate or a beachfront rental. Hundreds of properties are available for rent in these areas.
