Rehoboth Beach, Delaware
is located in Sussex County where agriculture is the major industry, where the moderate climate and long growing season, along with well-drained soils allow farmers to harvest as many as three crops per seasson. The county has more than fifty roadside, pick-your-own nursery markets and 1,366 farms on 307,689 acres, which is 51.3 percent of the county. Corn, soybean and small grains are the largest crops grown in Sussex and processed and fresh market vegetables are also major crops. The chicken industry and tourism also contribute a great deal to Sussex County’s economy. The Delaware Department of Agriculture Forest Service manages more than 9,400 acres of state forestland and Blackbird State Forest, Redden State Forest and Taber State Forest are maintained for timber production.
